  About The Author

  Anne grew up on an apple farm in the heart of rural Essex in the UK. She read English at Durham University, where she focused on Medieval and Old English, and must be one of the few people who has read the Anglo-Saxon poem, Beowulf, in the original language. However, she remembers almost nothing about it now. Anne is the author of six previous novels, including four psychological crime books and two romantic comedies. She has also published a wide variety of short stories which range from dark literary fiction to reworkings of Bible stories, and she writes off-beat and meditative poetry. Occasionally at the same time. She is currently working on the second book of The Gathandrian Trilogy, of which The Gifting is the first.

  She lives in Surrey with her long-suffering husband, and works part-time for the University of Surrey in the Student Care Services office. Her interests include playing bad golf, theatre-going, birdwatching, reading dark, quirky modern novels, and of course writing, which - sometimes - keeps her sane.
